Denim fits explained: wide-leg, straight and relaxed
Most jeans differ in three places: how high the waist sits, how the leg falls from the hip, and how wide the hem is. Once you know which of those you care about, choosing a cut is quick.
Wide-leg
Fitted at the waist, then falls straight and wide from the hip. It balances a fitted or cropped top and looks best with a little heel or a chunky sole so the hem does not drag. See Indigo Wide-Leg Jeans.
Straight
The same width from knee to hem. The most versatile cut: works with trainers, boots and loafers, tucked or untucked tops. See Indigo Deep-Blue Straight Jeans.
Relaxed (men)
More room through the seat and thigh with a straight leg, so it sits easily with a hoodie or overshirt. See Rover Men's Relaxed Straight Jeans.
How to check length
- Take a pair of trousers that sit right on your shoes.
- Lay them flat and measure the inside leg from the crotch seam to the hem.
- Compare with the length in the garment measurements table on the product page. For wide-leg cuts, add 2 to 3 cm if you plan to wear heels.
Fit note
Where a style runs small, the product page says so. If you are between waist sizes on one of those, choose the larger size and use a belt.
