Autumn layering: three outfits from five pieces
Layering is easier when every piece works with every other piece. Start with five: a chunky knit, a trench, a statement scarf, straight jeans and a midi skirt.
The five pieces
- Hearth Chunky Cable-Knit Sweater: the base layer that does the warm work.
- Lumen Plaid Drawstring Trench Coat: the outer layer for wind and light rain days.
- Ember Wool Plaid Fringe Scarf: colour and warmth at the neck.
- Indigo Deep-Blue Straight Jeans: the everyday bottom.
- Sway Pleated Faux-Leather Midi Skirt: the dressier option.
Look 1: weekday
Knit tucked loosely into the straight jeans, trench open on top. Keep the scarf in your bag for the evening.
Look 2: weekend
Knit over the jeans, scarf wrapped twice and left long at the front. Skip the coat on milder afternoons; the scarf and knit carry the outfit.
Look 3: dinner
Knit half tucked into the pleated midi skirt, trench belted with the drawstring. Boots or loafers finish it.
Why it works
Each look changes only one or two pieces, so the colours stay consistent: cream, deep blue, brown and one bright accent from the scarf. When you add new pieces, pick ones that sit in the same palette and every outfit doubles.
